From the particular perspective of bulk carrier loading and de-ballasting, ADIS™ offers the unique capability of continuously monitoring the position of the vessel’s water plane and displaying all related parameters in real-time. Simplistically the system defines the position of the static water plane relative to the vessel. Therefore any parameter which is a function of the vessel’s shape can be established relative to this plane surface.

In this way ADIS™ provides deck officers with minute by minute measurements of all relevant draught data with a precision better than ± 10mm. Thus not only can the weight of cargo be defined, but also the trim and list of the vessel and whether there is any undesirable deflection in terms of hogging and sagging. ADIS™ provides both the shipper and the deck officers with the precise measurement of the vessel’s change in displacement and thus the actual weight of cargo stowed. This system is now used by both civilian and military operators with distribution and support available internationally. The ADIS™ system has been installed on displacement hulls, high speed vessels and a variety of naval vessels and structures.
