blockWeir-Jones Group provides engineering, re-mediation, equipment procurement and design services for the mining industry. Vibratek Services Inc, a member of Weir-Jones Group, has a worldwide reputation for the successful design and modification of many  large milling operations. The company also has extensive experience in the investigation, analysis, design and re-mediation of mill and kiln systems.

The Weir-Jones Group has two current application specific solutions available to the mining industry: Conveyor Belt Monitoring Systems and Microseismic Monitoring Systems. We have supplied over 350 passive microseismic (PMM) and acoustic emission monitoring solutions to the oil and gas, mining, and heavy construction industries in North America and overseas for more than 35 years. Cost-effective 24-bit resolution hardware and robust software, which draws upon this experience is  available as a Turn-Key solution. A wide variety of both temporary and permanent, solutions are available.

Microseismic Monitoring Systems provide  accurate data on the geomechanical integrity of mine’s structural integrity in real-time to mining personnel. A current focal point of interest is the use of this technique to locate miners trapped underground after an accident. The unanticipated failure of rock around mine openings has always been a major cause of injuries in the mining industry. Such failures fall into several categories: rockfalls-loosened rock falling due to inadequate support; rock bursts-violent rock failures caused by excessive stress ; and outbursts sudden ejection of rock material or coal into an excavation due to high gas or water pressure. Even though improved ground support techniques have reduced the incidence of accidents due to loose ground, the tendency for mining depths and extraction rates to increase, means that the frequency of rockburst and associated ground failure is continuously increasing.
