In 2007 Weir-Jones was selected by Transport Canada, Canadian National Railways and Canadian Pacific Railways after a lengthy tender process to develop an automated Rock Fall Hazard Detection System (SRFDS). Weir-Jones builds seismic monitoring systems for the nuclear power industry, components for fuel control systems in military aircraft and devices which meet 5-SIGMA quality standard in the automotive sector. Weir-Jones has also demonstrated highly reliable adaptive discrimination algorithms in a number of industrial sectors. 

Microseismic Rock Fall Detection System is a positioned to eliminate the high maintenance costs and continuous false alarms generated from slide fence systems. Once a valid event is detected, the device immediately sends a digital warning signal to the railway operator. Weir-Jones has had extensive experience with rock fall or stability hazard monitoring systems since the early 1970's. Clients have included railway companies, Provincial and Federal Ministries, Crown Corporations and mining companies.
